Sleep debt

It is Tuen Ng Festival today. Instead of going to see the dragon boat competition, we slept at home in the afternoon..........feeling recharged afterwards. Maybe we were so busy and slept insufficiently these days and today we paid off the sleep debt.

賭博

Ceci今天有事到澳門，順道往金沙賭場碰碰運氣，結果是怎樣就不在這裡敘述了，我想說的是，一個人除非懂得並且認真執行「 止賺止蝕」，否則祇有慘淡收場。原因如下:

1. 如果起初贏了錢，由於感覺錢賺來太易，那種興奮感會令人再下注，希望繼續賺那些他認為容易賺得的錢，結果是總會輸一次。除非懂得「 止賺」， 否則祇會輸至本錢也沒有(除非你比賭場富有!)，被迫含淚離場。

2. 如果起初輸了錢，由於覺得心有不甘，白白的把銀紙送掉，於是總想著尋回失去的。除非懂得「 止蝕」， 否則祇會輸至本也沒有，被迫離場。

VIP

部門今天發了一份電郵給所有員工，只有兩句話，說數天後有VIP到訪，吩咐同事當日要把茶水間的門關上。我看了這份電郵，覺得非常反感。

首先，即使真的要把茶水間的門關上，也應該給大家一個好些的理由，單靠電郵兩句話，我看不出VIP和茶房有什麼關係。

第二，如果部門覺得茶房不適宜給VIP看到，即代表部門察覺茶房有不妥善的地方，那麼部門為什麼不去解決問題，以改善員工福利，而是去遮遮掩掩呢? 這樣做，只會令員工感到平日部門是對大家那麼的差!

記憶力

今天是結婚11個月的紀念日，我們到了青衣城吃晚飯慶祝，碰到Leonidas的一位服務員，他竟然認出我們，還說得出我們上次光顧是為了慶祝與結婚有關的日子，並且叫過他幫忙為我們和一個公仔拍照!

其實，這已是數個月前的事，這個年紀輕輕的服務員，每天要面對這麼多客人，還能夠記得我們，真的非常了不起! 而他禮待客人的專業精神，亦教人敬佩!

這位年青人的名字叫 ... ... Wilson。

請見諒

最近用中文寫電郵，不知道是什麼原因，突然對於應該用「 請見諒」還是「 請勿見諒」產生疑問，想深一層，應該是前者才正確。另外，「 敬請原諒」和「 請勿見怪」也是對的，唯獨是沒有「 請勿見諒」這個怪詞語。有時，怪念頭真的會無端地走出來!

TV Show

From the playback, I found that I sometimes looked dull in the TV show........Am I too tired or not doing the job seriously? Oh....I think improvement is required.

The Da Vinci Code

Watched this film this afternoon.........quite good. At night, I watched a TV program and some websites which argued that many things mentioned in the fiction/movie were not genuine. I don't care about this! Fiction is fiction............if it attracts you and gives you fun and excitement, it is a good fiction.

剛剛發覺自己已經寫了100篇blog，這是第101篇了。時間過得也真快，慶幸自己有機會開始寫blog，把生活中的所見與所思記錄下來。
今晚一邊寫blog，一邊播著一張民歌碟，懷舊之味特別濃。如果以往有一個自動的blog記錄器，把多年的事統統錄下來，讓自己有空時拿出來細味......啊! 多好呢!

Ultrasound at ER

As Ceci felt a bit pain in her tummy, we went to the ER (as it is Sunday today). The doctor there said that every thing looked OK.........the reason of pain may be just due to "long time no toilet"!
We got a free ultrasound photo! HEEEEEE!

Home alone

Ceci went to a wedding banquet at the Foreign Correspondents' Club tonight, and I am home alone......watching the TV shows recorded days ago while waiting for her.

Life is so busy

Invited 5 university classmates to have dinner tonight, but only 2 managed to come. The other 3 had to meet their clients and colleagues. Come on! It's Friday night. Why were they still so busy doing work-related things?!

君子慎獨

今天的部組會議中，談到《中庸》裡的「慎獨」精神。一般來說，與人共處時，檢點言行，容易做到；而獨處時，由於無人監督下，言行較無法自省自克，人性的弱點也就較容易暴露。能閒居獨處時，行為仍然不逾矩，是需要有高度的自覺性。我覺得這個道理很好。

Call somebody names

In today's class, I learn the following phrase from the handout too:
call somebody names: If a person, especially a child, calls someone names, he or she addresses that person with a name which is intended to be offensive.
Example: Tom's worried that if he wears glasses at school the other children will call him names.

Coaching & Counselling

Attended a course on coaching and counselling yesterday. Here are some key points:

Some coaching techniques: Establish a trusting climate, facilitate the staff to reflect on his own, set goal and action plan which are agreed mutually.

Some counselling techniques: Create a supportive climate, understand the staff's hidden issues, point out the blind spots of staff, confront the staff's distorted thinking, help the staff to utilize own resources to solve problems.

OSCAR

We phoned Dr Chau's clinic and learned from the nurse that we passed the OSCAR and other blood tests! Great!

Less busy

After a very busy week last week, I feel more relaxed today.

My colleague finally compromised to automate the forecast input form, so that forecaster will not forget the selection of precautionary statement. Maybe he did this because he agreed with my view or he didn't want to argue with me anymore.

Mother's Day

Today is the Mother's Day and I saw three mothers. Mine, Ceci's and Ceci herself!

Hand Hand

Saw Dr. Chau again today. BB continues to grow healthily and we can see the head, body and hands clearly!
We also went to St.Paul to see other BBs and imagined ours several months later.

Environmental Protection

A new service was launched and new pamphlets with information on the new service were printed. Shall we:
(1) replace the old pamphlets with the new ones, and send the former to recycling company?
or (2) Since the old one does not contain wrong information, consume all of them first before using the new ones, for the sake of environmental protection?

My colleague chose (1) but the Head chose (2)...........I will choose (3), which is (2) plus adding to the old pamphlet a sticker with information on the new service.

The time has come

After preparing for so long time, tomorrow is the time to launch UV forecast. Coincidentally, I will have a presentation at the Technical Forum tomorrow. Double busy!

人蟲大戰

今晚在家裡的浴室上演了一場人蟲大戰，一隻蟑螂終於敗在我的手上。

辦公室的溝通

今天有同事告訴我，說隔鄰部組的高級主任因為今天才知道我組將會推出服務，所以擔心他們不能及時配合。其實，我一直都有知會她同組的主任(即她的下屬)有關進度，只是該主任正在放假，而她放假前又沒有向該高級主任交代事情，才引致這樣。
我心想，難道我向該組的一人溝通是不夠，而要事事知會她的上司才足夠?我認為應該不是。
不過，假使我早知她倆的溝通是這樣的差，又或者清楚那個上司是這麼的喜愛撒賴，便應該事事知會她倆，以保自己的安全。

海洋公園

今天和Ceci去了海洋公園，看了很多海洋生物，以前覺得海洋公園很老土，是大陸人來香港的必經之地，但是今天用心地去看，再和世界各地的主題公園比較，發覺其實海洋公園一點也不遜色。要刺激，它有各類型的機動遊戲。要教育意義，它有數個介紹自然生態的展館。要娛樂，聰明的海獅和海豚絕對能為大家製造。此外，它還有美麗的香港南部海景呢!所以，日後假使有遊客問我海洋公園是否值得去，我的答案會是肯定的。

剪髮

今天去了剪髮，將長長的髮剪得很短。
我是一個很懶去髮型屋的人，所以每次都是等到頭髮很長、 連自己都看不順眼的時候，才肯光顧髮型屋。今天替我剪髮的髮型師似乎不太喜歡我本來的髮型，覺得它很凌亂，所以大剪一揮，把左右剪得薄薄的，最後用風筒吹了一番，再添上一些定型膏，很滿意地交了他的功課，還叫我三星期後再去找他，以免造型走樣! (哈!以我這麼懶的性格，才不會理他呢! 哈哈!)

ER

Went to the ER today with Ceci because of her serious itching problem. Surprisingly, we just had to wait for about 5 minutes to see the doctor, since her case was classified as semi-urgent. The doctor gave us some ointment and said that it should not have any adverse effect on the foetus. I was not quite satisfied with his word "should" and hoped that what he said was absolutely true.

忙

這幾天都是忙著準備下星期推出的UV服務，要和很多同事聯絡，催促(或懇求)他們交貨，又要費煞思量，想想是否還有什麼算漏了的東西。的確，一件事情的成功絕對需要一個周詳的計劃，而一個周詳的計劃往往需要一段充分的時間去打造。

Heavy rain

It rained heavily tonight. Got wet when coming home and realized that Red rainstorm warning was issued. Seems that the rain season comes quite early this year.

勞動

今天是五一勞動節，我們在家裡也勞動了一番，出了一身汗，打掃地方及整理寒衣，龐媽媽的功勞也不少啊!
