Verb Agreement

(1) AND

When the subject consists of two or more nouns linked by 'and', plural verb should be used. This applies even if they are uncount nouns. Example:
Time, money and effort were needed.

Having said that, please note that plural verb should not be used in the following situations:
(a) uncount nouns preceded by 'all', or
(b) singular count nouns preceded by 'each' or 'every'
Example:
All this effort and sacrifice has not helped to alleviate poverty.
It became necessary to involve every man, woman and child who was willing to help.

(2) OR

When two or more nouns are linked by 'or', plural verb should be used after plural nouns, and singular verb should be used after singular/uncount nouns. Example:
One generation's problems or successes are passed to the next.
Can you say 'No' to a friend or relative who wants to insist?
