忙

今天繼續照顧BB，基本上整天的工作就是重複地煲水 、開奶 、餵奶 、換片 、洗衫等，雖然有點辛苦，但辛苦得很高興。

BB回家了

今天早上，兩位周醫生(產科及兒科)說母子二人情況良好，可以出院。辦好所有手續及繳款後，BB便乘著爸爸(即是我囉!)駕的車回家了。BB很乖，很少哭，我們替他換片和餵奶亦算順利。

BB，你真的很得意啊!

親子

Ceci恢復得很快，大清早便可自行下床四處走，產婦在醫院i裡原來也很忙，要訓練怎樣照顧BB及學做產後運動。而今天最高興的，就是有一小時的親子時間，我和Ceci二人可以在育嬰室和BB玩，把他抱在手中的那種感覺真的很特別!

BB出世了!

今天凌晨一時許，Ceci又再開始陣痛，直至五時，陣痛加密，於是她打電話給我，我便馬上趕到醫院。
之後進展曾一度緩慢，上午九時半左右，周醫生巡房，發現流血的情況持續，於是立刻命Ceci入產房，當時已有三至四度。周醫生更替Ceci注入催生藥。
在產房中，Ceci的陣痛加劇，打止痛針及聞笑氣的作用似乎不大。在大約下午一時後，Ceci突然感到一次很厲害的痛楚，當時曾經想過放棄自然分娩，改為開刀。幸好，護士這時探到已開至約九度，於是叫Ceci繼續努力，說成功已在望了。之後，護士替Ceci換了一個更方便順產的姿勢，而這時周醫生亦來到，終於很順利地替Ceci接生。母子平安。

看見自己的BB，感到生命真的很神奇!

作動了

今天凌晨十二時許，Ceci開始感覺到第一次陣痛，數十分鐘後來第二次，之後便沒有了，於是大家都睡了。
凌晨四時許，Ceci醒來，發現有血滲出。是了!是見紅了!我們馬上拿起預先執拾好的行李，乘的士往聖保祿。
在醫院裡，護士檢查過，說子宮只打開了少許，就這樣我們便在醫院等了一整天，亦曾因隔鄰床位嘈吵而由502號房轉至506號房。
晚上周醫生來了，說還要再等。
Ceci在醫院睡覺，而我則回家睡，靜待明天!

奇女子

我們之前請的女傭本來應該已回菲律賓，怎料今天竟在銅鑼灣給外母遇到，後來我們再向僱傭公司查問，原來她一直都沒有入住他們提供的宿舍。那麼，這十數天她究竟住在哪裡? 她現在是否非法留港，還是她已曾出境然後再入境? 她有沒有將我們給她回菲律賓的機票變賣?

一切，恐怕永遠是一個謎。

Afternoon Tea Set + Dessert Buffet

今天和老婆到朗豪酒店的The Place歎Afternoon Tea Set + Dessert Buffet，由於是weekday，所以只有很少人，這樣也好，我和老婆可以安靜地渡過一個悠閒的下午。

高官

昨日看電視才聽到周局長說有問題的雞蛋並沒有輸入香港，已奇怪為什麼他能夠這麼肯定，果然今天發現市面上有售賣問題雞蛋，而局長則要站出來道歉 (按這裡觀看)。高官?高在那裡?

time bomb

Several months ago, my staff disclosed the password of our database account to the officer (Li) of another division, so as to facilitate his collection of data. I blamed my staff immediately after knowing this and asked him to inform Li that the password should not be used again.

Today, I received a message from the database administrator that Li was still attempting to access the database using our password recently. This really stirred me much! On the one hand, I asked my staff to write an email to condemn Li for his improper behaviour. On the other hand, I blamed my staff for his negligence in keeping the password unchanged for such a long time. I also told him that what he did wrong in the past could result in an unexpected and serious problem in the future - just like a time bomb which could explode at any time.

陪產假

今天正式開始了第一天的陪產假，做了一些簡單的清潔工作，三餐都在家裡進食，兼且有午睡時間，非常悠閒。

代父母

今天到聖堂問曾神父可否找神父做兒子的代父，曾神父說這樣不太好，因為會令別人誤會神父將來對孩子偏私。他補說我們的兒子其實可以找代父或代母，於是我們再問可否找修女做代母，他說這個倒不成問題。

其實曾神父所說也並非無道理，但本來清者可以自清，神父承受的壓力到底是誰給的呢?

準備就緒

這幾天忙著買BB用品，老婆亦執好了入院須帶的物件，往醫院的路亦已探好，我的假期也已經開始了。一切已準備就緒，迎接BB的來臨 !

開WC

越來越覺得未來兩三年應該參與多些WC，不單是為了儲分，而是為了聽多些現任D對大形勢的分析，這樣學習可能比自己看書還有用。

另外，我開始不介意開普通話及英語的WC了。其實，和很多同事相比，我已是講得不錯的了，所以怕些甚麼呢？再者，越難或越不熟練的事情更應做多些，這樣才有進步！

這些想法，正正回應了自己日前有關終生學習的blog。

BB床

今天在美美買了BB床，原木顏色，頭尾皆有一列車卡，很cute的。以後，我們的寶寶便會睡在那裡了!

大車變細車

部門安排了一團十多人今天乘pool car往廣州考察，怎料今早才發現派來的是七人車，最後要分兩批人出發，第一批坐pool car，第二批坐臨急租用的街車 (等了兩小時)。這樣的失當牽涉溝通、疏忽、馬虎等問題，不能原諒。

我今天早上沒有親自目睹集合現場的情景，肯定非常震撼！

添衣

天氣逐漸涼起來，老婆很擔心我穿得不夠暖，所以去了很多公司替我找尋合適的新衣，終於今天在海運的Tommy Hilfiger (美國品牌)買了一件藍色白間條長袖線衫給我。

穿著老婆送的衫，份外溫暖啊！

鳴謝

除了英語有不及物動詞外，其實中文也有類似情況，當中一個例子是「鳴謝」。鳴謝這個動詞後面不帶動作對象，例如︰

正確︰對於有關單位的熱情款待，我們特此鳴謝。

錯誤︰最後我們要鳴謝某某公司、某某電台和某某中學，他們的鼎力支持，令這個活動得以圓滿結束。
要修改這個句子，我們可將「鳴謝」改為「多謝」︰

再見菲傭

今天菲傭走了，過去誰對誰錯已經再不重要了。

希望她日後能找到一份真正適合她的工作，好好的過她的生活。

monostatic radar vs bistatic radar

"What is the difference between monostatic radar and bistatic radar?" This is the question asked by the interviewer in Poon's job interview at O many many years ago.

monostatic radar—The most common radar system configuration, with the radar receiver at the same location as the radar transmitter. In such a system, surfaces of constant range are spheres centered at the radar site, and only the radial component of target velocity causes a Doppler frequency shift.

bistatic radar—A radar system configuration with the receiver located at a site different from the transmitter. In such a system, surfaces of constant range are ellipsoids with the transmitter and receiver sites as foci, and the component of target velocity that induces a Doppler frequency shift is the component normal to the ellipsoids.

Hard and fast指一個很嚴格的規則，或在任何情況下也不能改變的行動方針。

在此處，hard可解作硬性，而fast則解作牢固 (不是指快！)

communication test

Today, my colleagues and I went to the new sensor site to inspect the civil work preparation. We also take this opportunity to test the communication between the sensor site and the headquarters. Several days ago, EMT said that they had already tested the link but today we found that data cannot be transmitted successfully. EMT explained that in their previous test, they only pinged the remote server (i.e. testing the "network" connection) but no test on serial communication was carried out. Devil is in the detail! No detailed test was made!!!

Fortunately, the main purpose of this trip is site inspection. Installation of sensor will be carried out three weeks later and therefore we still have time to fix the communication problem.

如何閱讀一本書

早前的blog也有提到老婆替我借了How to read a book，後來我發現這本書原來有中文版，便立刻買了，很想快些學懂書中所教的技巧。

終生學習

還記得在兩個多星期前，重遊港大並泛起一份懷念學習的心情。

今天早上，在上班的途中突然閃過一個新想法，覺得上班亦可以被視為學習的一種延續，應該在工作上多些主動找機會充實自己，學習新事物。當收到一份任務時，可視之為功課；當被上司召見時，可視之為老師親身指導；當閱讀文件時，可當作是在圖書館翻閱資料。

上班其實也可以很像上學！

窗簾布

今天終於將全屋的窗簾布除下，拿到洗衣店清洗，再於即日掛回原位。
這件工作其實已經耽誤了多年，主要是因為不知道怎樣處理幾幅羅馬簾，但最近去了窗簾店問個究竟，才知道原來並非如想像中那麼困難。
所以，凡事只要有決心，做起來可能比空想(或擔憂)容易。

菲傭

今天字正詞嚴地向菲傭訓話，叫她要注重勤力、清潔和禮貌。她能否做得到，要看看她的造化了！

Devil is in the detail

今天從電視聽到這句英文諺語，意思是可怕的問題往往出在細節上，又或者一個計劃如果在細節方面安排不足，往往會導致整個計劃失敗。這句話很有意思，但英語又有另一句諺語 Can't see the wood for the trees。要在兩者之間取得平衡，絕不容易!

生日慶祝

今天是我的生日，老婆為我舉行了很多慶祝活動，首先到機場吃午飯，然後到迪欣湖觀光，那裡地方真的很大，又有很多不同品種的植物，裡面的 7-eleven也有很別緻的裝修呢!

之後我們到迪士尼的Hollywood Hotel參觀，然後在Disney Hotel吃自助晚餐，那裡有很多卡通人物和我們拍照，老婆更給了我一個很大的驚喜，就是叫米奇老鼠拿生日蛋糕給我，並且做指揮引領餐廳眾人唱生日歌呢! 此外，還有生日卡和電鬚刨作生日禮物。

整個生日慶祝，充滿了驚喜和興奮，老婆，多謝您!

rank and file

為甚麼 rank and file 解作士兵、員佐級、普通成員或一般大眾呢？
原來 rank 指橫列(side by side)，而 file 指縱列 (one behind another)。在軍隊裡，士兵列隊時需要橫列、縱列或縱橫並列，而軍官卻不用這樣做。因而，rank and file就用來喻指普通士兵。後來這一短語又進一步引申成百姓或普通成員等。
例子：
The party's rank and file are beginning to question the prime minister's choice of advisers.
Most rank and file police officers rejected the new pay offer.
