Rainy 30 June

It was rainy today, the 30th of June. Ten years ago, it was also a rainy day, when the last Governor said goodbye. And I worked at the CFO, issuing the last forecast for the RO.

There are letters A and B on each of the rings. It means:
1. AB AB - the slogan of Pong Ma Ma.
2. Bi-Anniversary, i.e. 2nd anniversary! Ha! Ha!

Bel

Went to Bel again today. Still loved our flat very much!
Many people swam in the pool. Luckily, we are not in the low flats or it will be very noisy.

The managment is very efficient: They copied the manuals of all the electrical appliances for us.

Urine check

Consulted Dr. Chau again today.............as we have only little antibiotics left.
He seemed to be unhappy about our decision. Anyway, he proposed another option which is to check the urine regularly in the future, say once a month.

Radiography

I took vacation leave today as I had to stay at home at take care of Dau-dau. I continued to consult some experts on radiography to see whether the X-ray scan should be performed on Dau-dau. Their view is that it is not worthwhile to do the scanning at this stage.

X-ray

We went to the hospital again today for the scanning of kidney and bladder. The former was done by ultrasound. However, we did not do the one for bladder as we found that a considerable amount of X-ray will be used. I hope that this decision is correct.

F duty

I had my first F duty today. Weather was not so good. Handled a lot of press enquires about the toppling of a helicopter at the airport.

home on the range

In addition to "Sleep, Little Child", this is another song that can make my son fall asleep easily:

Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam (漫遊)
Where the deer and the antelope (羚羊) play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

Home, home on the range (牧場)
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

Gym after dinner

Tonight, Ceci and I had dinner at the California Pizza Kitchen at Mongkok. Afterwards, we had a walk at the "Woman Street". It was just 9 o' clock when we came back to Tsim Sha Tsui. Both of us suddenly had an idea: How about go gymming?

Yeahhhh....... We then went to the Physical.......Ceci danced at the Jazz dancing class and I did some weight training. I even had my shower there.

On our way back home, I bought some late dinner (Shanghai dumplings and beer) and enjoyed it at home with TV.

What a wonderful night!

Transition Lens (全視線)

Transition lenses (in fact, Transitions is a brand name) are photochromic lenses which have millions of molecules of substances such as silver chloride or silver halide embedded in them. When exposed to UV rays, as in direct sunlight, the molecules undergo a chemical process that causes them to change shape. The new molecular structure absorbs portions of the visible light, causing the lenses to darken. The number of molecules that change shape varies with the intensity of the UV rays. When you go indoors and out of the UV light, a different chemical reaction takes place. The absence of the UV radiation causes the molecules to "snap back" to their original shape, resulting in the loss of their light absorbing properties. In both directions, the entire process happens very rapidly.

An important note about photochromic lenses: because they react to UV light and not to visible light, there are circumstances under which the darkening will not occur. A perfect example of this is in your car. Because the windshield blocks out most UV light, photochromic lenses will not darken. For this reason, most sunglasses with photochromic lenses also have a certain amount of tint already applied to them.

Tax Return

Although I have been lazy for many days, I have to fill in the tax return today ......because it is nearly due. A very special feeling this time because I write my son's name in the return! Thanks to Ceci, she gave up her right to claim the allowance for our son.

Talk

Delivered a talk at the Science Museum today. In fact, I did a similar talk 2 years ago but I got less time (only 45 minutes) this time. I found that the pace of the talk was even better and the whole presentation was less boring than last time! (because of -N as suggested by C.W. Li .....see yesterday's blog?)

+1-N
