又覆診啦

今天又到周醫生那裡覆診，等了很久(等他吃飯盒)，但實際見的時間很短，皆因一切正常!

天堂

今天和同事吃午飯，他問了我一個宗教問題，就是有沒有信心死後能上天堂，唔......這的確是一個很深的問題......

Negotiation

Attended a class on negotiation skills yesterday and today. Among all the rules, I found the following enlightening:
1. Avoid assumptions - there is nothing that is not negotiable.
2. Every time we try to influence others - try to create their needs.
3. Don't underestimate the "Pre" and "Post" stages.
4. Better conserve the concession later.
5. When there is a deadlock, try to identify and expand the common ground, then address the differences.

今晚打老虎

以前在一些港產片聽到「今晚打老虎」這詞語，不知道有什麼含意，原來廣東話「今晚打老虎」與法文comment allez-vous發音(可參考這裡)非常相似。comment allez-vous，原來是英文的How are you?

Computer Term (II)

Phish, or phishing

The act of sending an e-mail to a user, falsely claiming to be an established legitimate enterprise in an attempt to scam the user into surrendering private information that will be used for identity theft. The e-mail directs the user to visit a Web site where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.

The word phishing comes from the analogy that Internet scammers are using e-mail lures to fish for passwords and financial data from the sea of Internet users. Since hackers have a tendency to replacing "f" with "ph" the term phishing was derived.

Spoof, or spoofing

In networking, the term is used to describe a variety of ways in which hardware and software can be fooled. Example:

IP spoofing: playing trick that makes a message appear as if it came from an authorized IP address.
e-mail spoofing: forging an e-mail header to make it appear as if it came from somewhere or someone other than the actual source.

小孩子

今天見到裝修公司張女士的三歲兒子，非常可愛，我逗他玩了好一陣子。老婆問我將來和自己的兒子是否也會這樣開心地玩耍？我答她：當然啦！會更開心很多很多倍呢！

運動

最近有項調查指出，香港的體質指數，包括體重、血壓、肌肉關節柔軟度、肌肉力量與耐力，均自30歲起下降。資料顯示，愈多做運動，體質便愈好。有醫生建議市民，每周進行3 - 5次中等強度的體能活動。中等強度的體能活動，可令人輕微出汗、體溫上升、心跳加速，但又不致於令人說話吃力，成年人應每天運動累積30分鐘。看來，久違了運動的我，要加把勁了!

覆診

今天不用上班，陪老婆到QE覆診，一切正常。算算手指，還有大約兩個月，寶寶便出世了，要加快做好各項準備功夫了!

Night Off

今日返完夜更，在家中睡了一整個天，由於今次是首次返N前有一個O，所以休息時間較充足，人亦沒有那麼累。所以，我是贊成A-M-O-N-O的。

coup d'état

Coup d'état, or simply coup, is a sudden illegal, often violent, taking of government power, especially by (part of) an army. It is a French word:

coup = blow, stroke
de = of
état = state

Example:
1. The head of Thailand's army and newly declared leader said the military's coup d'etat was complete and promised power would be returned to the people as soon as possible.
2. Hong Kong people travelling or doing business in Thailand are reminded to beware of their personal safety following the overnight military coup.

面對困難

評價一個人的價值，要在面對危機和阻力時，才能看到其本質，不能單看他在順境時的表現，要把他放到危機與艱難中，進行持續觀察。所以一個人遇見困難的工作時，不要懼怕，因為這正是考驗其真本領的時候。

高招找義工

Google 推出Google Image Labeler，表面上是一個遊戲，隨機配對兩位使用者，在雙方的瀏覽器上隨機顯示圖片，讓大家憑直覺為這張圖片想出相關的字眼，若兩人輸入的字眼相同，便可以獲得分數並繼續玩下一張圖片，如此反覆進行，直到遊戲時間結束。說穿了，其實是Google叫世界各地的使用者免費幫它們為影像做 Label，從而增加Google圖像搜尋器的效能，果然高招!

一士諤諤

「千羊之皮，不如一狐之腋﹔千人之諾諾，不如一士之諤諤。」
諾諾，即唯唯諾諾，恭維順從﹔諤諤(音鱷)，即直言敢諫，犯顏直陳。意思是有一千個人說恭維話，不如一個人說真話實話。這好比是一千張羊皮不如一隻狐狸腋下的皮毛。
現實生活中，不乏聽不進諤諤之言的領導者。他們有缺點、有錯誤，自己不做自我批評，又不肯接受群眾的批評和監督。明明知道錯也不肯改正，把善意直言看成是跟自己過不去，最後弄至無人肯說實話，實屬可悲!

錯諫得賞

曹操為了要消滅袁紹殘餘勢力，打算征伐烏桓。但是烏桓並不好打，許多下屬都不主張。雖然曹操最後決定出征，也獲了勝，但其實勝得也很險。

回城後，曹操下令重賞當初勸諫他不要征討烏桓的人。曹操說：「我這場勝利，完全是僥倖。諸君的勸阻，才是萬全之策。各位以後有什麼建議，即管提出，不必多慮。」

成功的管理人要做出一種氣氛，讓下屬放心地提出支持及反對的意見。

報告

今天終於在公司向同事報告了上個月到美國開GIS會的體驗，亦和暑期學生報告了有關閃電和大雨的研究。兩個報告皆獲得同事讚許，值得高興。

可愛的臉

今天到周醫生診所覆診，與上幾次不同的，是今次透過超聲波能夠清楚地看見BB的眼、鼻和咀，非常可愛呢！

育嬰講座

今晚到科學館演講廳聽育嬰講座，內容是孕婦與嬰兒的牙齒護理、為嬰兒掃風的方法及母乳的好處。雖然現場氣氛怪怪的(可能是主持的問題)，但整體內容算是有用。

September 11

Five years ago, two planes crashed into the World Trade Center and both towers collapsed within two hours. I had to work at CFO that night......and I spent most of the time watching TV and website for the latest news.......
Tonight, I watched the video again at CNN website.......Still frightening to me.....!

聖堂活動

今天我和老婆參加了堂家組活動，一如以往，活動遲了開始，亦遲了結束。還好的是，我們終於可以看到早前拍攝的訪問與短劇，負責攝影的阿畢出了很多力，值得讚賞。閒談間，我發現原來阿畢和我年紀非常非常接近，只比我年輕.........三日。

Vocab

whistle-blower

Tie

My son bought me a tie last week. Finally, I got a chance to wear it in the TV show! Very sharp! I love it!

官場

有人辭官歸故里，有人漏夜趕科場!
今天確實了某高層請辭的消息，感到非常意外。有人離開，自然有人晉升，相信局勢將會有大轉變。

今日老婆請我食飯(Super Sandwich)兼睇戲(魔盜王2)，出錢又出力(買戲票和食物)，多謝老婆!

IFC

Ceci and I went to the Information Centre of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. It houses books and journals on central banking and related subjects. Since it is at the 55/F of IFC II, we can enjoy the magnificent view of Victoria Harbour over there........including The Belcher's!

Starbuck與天氣

Starbuck最近發佈的第三季業績低於市場預期，據它們的CEO說，部分是由於今年反常的炎熱天氣所引致。在早晨的銷售高峰期，熱天氣令很多顧客轉飲Frappuccino，由於製作冷飲需要花的時間較長，造成店裏排起長長的人龍，因此嚇跑了不少顧客，最後令營業額降低。天氣如此影響生意，倒真特別!

悠閒空間

老婆今天對我說，希望能在炎夏的一個下午，在家中開著冷氣，聽聽悠揚的音樂，一邊喝著清涼的飲品，一邊閱讀書本......歎!
其實，快樂可以很簡單。

產前運動(二)

隔了一個星期，今天又再上產前運動課，教授的護士也是上次的那位。今次較上次更「激」，眾老公當眾替自己的老婆按摩，雙手在身上游來游去，場面何其壯觀!

Pizza

Tonight we had dinner at California Pizza Kitchen (Times Square) with Ceci's GPA colleagues. Both food and service are good. Will try again!
